When Yuji Itadori was a niggling boy, he had a crush on this girl.

This girl loved to wear dresses, but also looked good in tight jeans. This girl loved to show her smile, merely would glare at anyone that pissed her off. This girl loved to socialize, just likewise preferred to exist in her personal space. She was sweet, smart, intuitive, and nearly of all, she stood up for him when he was getting bullied for being the new kid in schoolhouse. She was both gentle and tough. She was both playful and serious. She was both shy and confident. The yin-yang in her personality was not to an extent that made her weird, only information technology actually made her a lot more interesting and appealing in his eyes. How could someone exist so adorable and intimidating at the aforementioned fourth dimension? She knew how to control her emotions, she knew how to set up her boundaries, and she absolutely knew just how easy it was to make Yuji's centre go crazy.

But when he turned sixteen, many things changed.

How exactly? Okay, okay, permit's have a quick rewind of what happened eight years ago: Itadori had to leave town for a while later he lost his parents in a machine crash, spent well-nigh of his youth in a rural prefecture with his grandfather, gained a humble neighbor as his all-time friend, learned that he had an interest with anything science, and at present he was dorsum in Tokyo as a bankrupt loftier school male child living in a rundown apartment with his aunt. Equally much as he would beloved to narrate why he had to return to this metropolitan urban center, he didn't exactly wish to impact the recent memories he had of his grandfather's demise. The all-time fashion to describe his life wasn't actually a rollercoaster, no. It was more than of a loading folio that was already on 99%, only cheers to certain issues, he had to restart back to 0%.

It was difficult for him to settle back into the very city he one time left as a young child, seeing as everything simply didn't seem the same as how it was viii years agone. He had no friends, not fifty-fifty acquaintances that knew him enough to be his friend. In that location was no sense of familiarity that reminded him of his childhood even though Tokyo was his original home sweet domicile. And yet, despite the unwelcoming atmosphere that greeted him on his homecoming, he was thankful to know that there were some things that didn't actually alter after all. For starters, 1 of those things was his dizzy, hopeless crush on y'all.

Well, it wasn't like he would have a take chances or anything, but it was quite funny that his centre still doubled a vanquish when he defenseless sight of you in the hallways. 8 long years, he thought. Who knew that the girl he liked still went to the same school? Y'all probably wouldn't recognize him anymore. And you didn't demand to considering you already had many friends gathering around you—people who were more than worthy of your time and a group where yous could fit in perfectly. There was no need for Yuji Itadori to join the picture. No demand for a loser similar him to insert himself in your globe. Besides, you wouldn't even take a second glance at him since he was a complete stranger to you at present.

"Yuji? Is that you?"

Fuck. Peradventure he was wrong.

"Oh, hey." He let out an awkward laugh and adjusted his glasses, shutting his locker door as he faced yous. "What'southward up?"

Your chuckle was notwithstanding the most angelic sound he had ever heard. "What do yous mean 'what's up'? I can't believe it'due south actually you," you enthused, eyeing him similar he was some kind of an conflicting. He would say you were practically speechless, merely since you were still able to speak, so possibly that wasn't the right word. "I just… I haven't seen you lot in, like, ten years—"

"Eight," he corrected and afterwards placed a hand in his pocket in an attempt to expect cool, "Some things happened and I had to leave town for some time. I'grand really surprised that you still remember me."

Was it him or did your eyes glimmer just now? "Of course, I do. I don't forget people easily, peculiarly you. I was really deplorable when you left."

No, no, it must exist his imagination. You lot couldn't have liked him the same way he did you, right? "Well, uh… you look actually gorgeous," he complimented, watching how the corner of your lips curled upwards, "I mean, you lot know, similar… Um, you look overnice. Your face—"

"Who the hell is this punk?"

Information technology wasn't actually the antagonism that surprised Yuji. It was how the jerk with tribal tattoos placed a protective arm around your shoulder, mocking him with a disquisitional squint. He surely felt small from the guy'southward presence, but before Yuji could introduce himself, you already took the initiative to say his name. "This is Yuji Itadori," you uttered his proper name with such familiarity, "He'south my childhood friend, Sukuna. Exist squeamish."

"Nice to run across y'all," Yuji still greeted him out of courtesy considering information technology seemed that the guy was going to throw a tantrum if he didn't. That, and because he looked like an upperclassman. Perhaps a senior?

No friendliness was returned, though. "Adjacent time I see you trying to striking on my girlfriend, it'southward your face I'k gonna hit."

Great. First day of senior year and he already made an enemy.

But you know, Yuji wanted to be lowkey and and then he did exactly that. Later on that day, he tried to just stay in his lane for the next few weeks and didn't pursue talking to you any more than unproblematic hi's and hello's in the hallways, actively fugitive your line of sight whenever he walked past your tabular array in the cafeteria. He would be lying if he didn't acknowledge how disappointing it was to know that yous were dating someone, not to mention an egotistical jerk at that. Because if annihilation, yous deserve someone who would treat you right. Someone who would worship that footing yous walked on. Someone who would look yous in the optics and tell you just how lucky they were for having the privilege to be loved past you. It had been eight years, but why was he still stupidly dreaming for a chance to exist that 'someone' to yous?

"Earth to Yuji, are you daydreaming?" Aye. Yes, he was. But with the look on Nobara'south face, he knew he had to cut himself out of trance. "Are you high?"

Megumi scoffed and flicked his forehead. "High from existence in love. Snap out of information technology, idiot."

"You guys are so mean to me," he whined, resting his chin on his palm. Lo and behold were Itadori's new friends. Although he had recently simply met them, being in a group projection for their physics class allowed him to get to know these two and he was certainly loving the wholesome atmosphere that surrounded them "I'm actually solving the problem in my head."

Nobara rolled her eyes and took a bite from her burger. "Yeah, right. We already solved it, dumbass," she huffed, now flipping through the papers, "Okay, how about this: The observation deck of a tall skyscraper is three-hundred and seventy meters above the street. What is the time required for a penny to costless fall from the deck to the street below?"

Sorry, Kugisaki. He could easily answer the trouble. What he couldn't answer was how quick information technology was for him to go distracted every fourth dimension you entered the room. You were the focal indicate of his attending, blurring everything else in the background so he could only see you lot. There was no logical reasoning behind the fluttering in his chest as yous walked towards their tabular array in that huge cafeteria, leaving your group of friends just so you lot could speak a word to Yuji. "H-Hey, Y/Northward. What brings you here?"

You sent all three of them a grin before looking downwards at the salmon-haired male child otherwise known as your babyhood friend. "Have you been avoiding me because of Sukuna?"

Damn, did you always get direct to the point? He would accept stammered for an answer, but give thanks the heavens for Nobara Kugisaki and her up-front reactions because her groan cut the conversation short. "Uh, hello? Can you meet we're working on something hither?"

"Eight betoken 60-nine seconds," you told a clueless Nobara.

"Huh?"

"That's the time required for a penny to free fall from the deck," you added. Your clarification and so fabricated sense when Megumi calculated the equation and agreed with your reply. "Deplorable, I didn't mean to interrupt yous guys. I thought y'all were simply having a normal conversation."

Yuji, who was panicking internally, had to speak upwardly. "No, it'south alright. Y'all didn't know."

Information technology was going well until Megumi decided that it was funny to expose his friend. "Itadori's been daydreaming nigh you, actually—"

He kicked the raven-haired guy nether the table and feigned innocence when he gazed dorsum at y'all with a smile. "Non true." He forced a chuckle. "It's not."

"Oh, homo. So, yous're not daydreaming virtually me?" Yous grinned and shook your caput playfully. "Anyhow, I actually just wanted to invite y'all guys. In that location's a party at my place tonight and it'd be nice if you guys could come."

His ii friends looked at him for an answer, yet all he could practice was to rub his nape shyly. Should he say yes? No? Yes? No? Nobara would impale him if he didn't participate in their meeting after schoolhouse. "We take this matter after school. Um, nosotros're going to run across with Nanami-sensei in Oscorp for our enquiry—"

"—which won't take long," said Megumi, seemingly pushing his agenda, "We'll be in that location at the political party."

Yous smiled, pleased by the answer. "Great! Guess I'll see you later on, and so." And before Yuji could even process what Megumi only did, y'all were already facing him again with a hopeful look. "Yuji, just and so you know, Sukuna looks tough and all, merely he's really a coward inside. Don't worry too much virtually him."

Did information technology seem like he was being a wimp effectually your fellow? Dammit. That was embarrassing to say the least. However, he looked frontward to that night considering he wasn't really all that scared about your lover. What he wanted to avoid was getting involved in little arguments knowing that Aunt Mei would make a fuss if Yuji came home with a bruise on his face. Perhaps all he had to exercise was keep away from Sukuna'southward sight since Itadori was already satisfied at looking at you from distant.

But how could he explain to y'all that the reason he didn't get to attend the party later that night was because he was bitten by a radioactive spider that ultimately changed his life?

image

You could tell something was incorrect.

Yuji didn't become to schoolhouse for a week straight and you lot were extremely worried since the last fourth dimension you spoke to him was when yous invited him to the party which, co-ordinate to his friends, he decided to ditch. Every bit much as you lot were injure for expecting him to come, your speck of sulkiness was soon replaced with curiosity when he didn't show upwards in school for the following week. He could exist grievously sick and you never would take had any idea considering yous didn't know where he lived, didn't know his phone number, and certainly couldn't find him on social media.

You almost gave upward and considered the heartbreaking thought that maybe Yuji Itadori merely decided to leave this city again. He probably had no reason to stay and proverb goodbye to you was the least of his concerns. Still, you hoped that he could at to the lowest degree show himself to you for one last time because you lot were then down in the dumps that you lot never got the gamble to speak to him before he left.

Obviously, that wish was granted when he did attend school again, interim a little strange, but being his normal self yet. The simply difference was that he blatantly avoided you this time and it was obvious how he would walk the opposite management each time you lot were about to cross paths. He was conspicuously steering himself away from you and you lot weren't sure if y'all should be offended or hurt, wondering why he was rejecting being anywhere well-nigh your presence as if you lot were a plague.

That cold state of war went on for a week. And some other calendar week. And another week until information technology turned into a whole month. You just couldn't acquit information technology anymore. Amidst the throng of students passing by, y'all looked around and scanned every face up in the school deli merely to find the male child yous wanted to see the most.

"Yous guys watched this spider guy on the news final night who trounce up a agglomeration of robbers? He was and so cool!"

"You hateful Spider-Human being? Heck, yep. Dude, I'd do annihilation to meet him in person!"

"Infant, what do you recall near going to my place this night?" Sukuna whispered in your ear, displaying his sickening affection to you in a room full of teenagers. "I think it's about time we spice up our human relationship."

"You wish." Y'all pushed him off and used your vision to search for a certain pink-haired guy, realizing that he wasn't sitting together with Megumi and Nobara today.

There was a tug on your arm when you got upward and it came from your now irritable fellow. "Where you going, huh?"

I of Sukuna'southward friends egged on. "She'south probably looking for that dickwat," said the guy, laughing and loftier-fiving his abrasive friend as if they just made the funniest remark.

You rolled your eyes and left without a say, ignoring your boyfriend's numerous calls to your name as y'all went ahead and searched for the guy that yous simply couldn't end thinking about. Luckily plenty, you lot reached bingo when you saw him at his locker, completely oblivious to your unannounced arrival. "Yuji!"

A second. A mere 2nd would have been plenty for you to country face up flat on the floor as you lot tripped on your ain shoes for rushing over to him, but by some inexplicable force of luck, you lot were caught past Yuji's stiff grip who wasn't even looking at you to know that you were about to fall. But he did, and at present he was holding your waist tightly, face inches abroad from yours as your surprised optics met his. "Nice reflex."

It took him a few blinks to let you go. "Yeah, I guess."

You sighed in relief and straightened the crease on your skirt. "Is everything okay?" you asked out of business organisation. "I haven't seen you lot in a while and I idea you lot left again."

"Yeah, I'one thousand deplorable, I…" Although he faced yous, he still couldn't lock optics. "I didn't mean to ditch the party. Then many things just happened to me in the by few weeks."

Reading his trunk linguistic communication, you guessed that something was bugging his heed. "If you demand to open up upward nigh anything that'due south burdening you, yous can tell me. I tin go on a surreptitious."

And he appreciated that. He didn't demand to say information technology out loud, but the minute of displaying a grateful smile was all he had to show for you to feel relieved that he was at to the lowest degree okay. Withal, the next sixty seconds were spent in bad-mannered silence, with Yuuji seemingly debating an internal idea for the most part. You lot were virtually to inquire him if he wanted to hang out until he crush yous to it and blurted out an unexpected admission, "Y/Due north, I like you." Both of y'all froze. "I-I know that's weird, but I do like yous. I've liked you lot since we were kids and I never got to tell y'all, you know? Information technology sucks that I never had the balls to tell you because you're out of my league. You're amazing, you're… you're ane of a kind. Well, yous also take a beau now and I respect that, so I'm just admitting this to you and so I can go it off my chest considering I'yard dealing with a lot of things right now and—"

They said oxytocin decreases anxiety and kissing would exist the all-time form of amore to calm someone downwardly. Perchance that theory was right because when y'all cupped Yuuji's cheeks and pressed your lips on his, he was no longer fidgeting nor was he in a land of anxiety. His solicitude was curtained with surprise, eventually melting into the kiss and returning the movements of your lips with equal fervor.

This was your response to his admission. This was y'all, reciprocating his feelings.

"What the fuck?" Of course, hither comes the cliche scene where your boyfriend steps in subsequently catching you lot in the act, and now pushing your lover off of you. "Son of a bitch, get off my girl!"

Y'all couldn't even explicate the fright that entered your body when Sukuna tried to throw in a dial on Yuji's face up, but was stopped by the unexpected force of the latter's grip. He was wrapping his hand on Sukuna's fists, also surprised by himself when he did the action. "Itadori, be conscientious!"

"Oops, distressing!" he chosen out to no one in item, dodging some other punch from Sukuna whose fist at present landed on the locker door. Ouch. Fifty-fifty Yuji himself felt bad, simply your beau and his pride would never allow himself be on the other end of humiliation (despite doing the same thing to the other kids he used to bully), and so he charged afterward Itadori with a grunt and swung an extensive arm. "Hey, buddy, I'd love to fight you and all, but…" Yuji jumped from 1 wall to another, making a zigzag just to avert Sukuna's raging attacks. "I don't wanna be in detention!"

Now that a crowd was forming and unwanted attending was being given to all three of you lot, you decided to get in betwixt to try and stop the scuffle. "Finish it, cease! Sukuna, please." You pressed your palms flat on his breast. "It'south my fault. I'm the one who kissed him."

"Become outta my way!" He shoved you to the side with enough force for your head to striking the locker door, only he was only focused on getting revenge on Yuji who continuously hopped effectually like a bug trying not to get trapped. "Come up here, you lot punk! Fight me!"

"Wait, Sukuna. You lot don't wanna fight me—"

"Come at me!"

As you winced from the light concussion you sustained, Yuji rushed to you and asked if you were okay while you could see from the back of his caput that Sukuna was going to hit him. "Watch out!"

Strangely enough, Itadori didn't have to plough around when he extended a pes behind him, kicking Sukuna who immediately flew across the hallway. Hoots and laughter echoed through the corridor as students mocked the school's most popular guy for being completely disgraced by Yuuji's combat skills. Where did he fifty-fifty learn information technology from? Information technology looked like he had a 6th sense. "Y/N, are you sure you're okay? I'thousand gonna bring you to the dispensary."

"No, I'g fine," you answered in a hurried tone, "You have to leave. Sukuna's gonna keep on—"

"Itadori!" Simply when the guy was running to land an authentic punch, Yuuji made a backflip and in return, had Sukuna'southward fist diverted towards the school principal.

Oh, fuck.

Mr. Kimura was non at all pleased as he held his jaw. "In my office, now!"

image

Yuuji was a battery.

Bad logic, mayhap, but the reason he said that was considering he was about to nowadays the (+) positive and (-) negative of living two lives. It had been weeks since he learned to cover this new life as a wall-crawler, webslinger, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and it was safe to say that information technology wasn't in his programme to be the guy who saved lives in the first place. Initially, he felt like he was going mad from the huge change in his daily routine thanks to a sure spider that injected its venom on his neck when he sneaked within one of Oscorp'due south labs (which also cost him a whole day of lecture from Nanami-sensei, by the style!). How insane was information technology that he was only a normal guy one day and he woke up as a hero the next? He could crawl buildings, he could shoot inorganic webs, he had healing abilities, and he had that spider-sense to name a few. It took him some fourth dimension to suit and he wasn't going to utilize the said superhuman abilities until he was placed in a position where an elderly woman needed his help. Donning a red balaclava, a hoodie of the same colour, and some blue pants—saving the erstwhile woman from being hit by a coach became his debut moment as the savior of the city.

Considering he basically himself catapulted into this pressure of 'doing the right thing', he had no selection but to go on using his abilities to stop crimes and assist the helpless. He became a superstar overnight because he lived in an era where all it would take was a smartphone and a Twitter mail service for his spider counterpart to blow upwards on social media. And what should nosotros learn from the internet? It was the comments. The critics. The bearding people hiding backside their screens who either liked or disliked Spider-Man. Fine, fame attracted hate and he should probably take annotation from Hollywood celebrities, and then it wasn't surprising when they first dubbed him as a masked vigilante while claiming that all of his heroic moments were staged.

"Staged?!" he reacted negatively, doing a niggling throw-and-catch with his basketball as he lay on his bed. "How the hell can I stage those? Are people even thinking?"

Ii weeks ago, he saved a structure worker from falling off a skyscraper. Last week, he beat out upward a agglomeration of robbers who turned out to be wanted convicts who recently escaped prison. This week, he fought off a earnest taker and prevented him from mass murdering a group of children. Staged? If he wanted to get famous, he would accept just gone on Tiktok and did some overrated trip the light fantastic toe instead of risking innocent people's lives.

"I hateful, what'due south more suspicious than a random man spider appearing out of nowhere?" Megumi tried to make his signal, sitting on Yuji's gaming chair. "Fifty-fifty if you lot're saving lives, people are questioning how information technology'due south possible for a person to accept all these spider abilities. If you lot wanna clear your intentions, maybe betrayal your identity in public?"

Yuji panicked and placed his ball on the side. "Okay, you promised me y'all're not gonna tell anyone," he reminded the dark-haired guy, "I wasn't even going to tell y'all if only yous didn't catch me crawling in the ceiling when you entered my room."

Megumi rolled his eyes similar information technology was no big deal. "I don't have a big mouth."

"I'm just saying." He raised his hands in surrender. "Yous're the only one who knows. Non even Aunt Mei or…'

"Y/N?"

"Absolutely not." Yuji's heart charge per unit increased. "I don't know what her opinion is well-nigh Spider-Man and she has a young man, so…"

The new all-time friend laughed under his breath. "After she kissed yous? Are you stupid or what? Yous know, I don't know what kind of globe you lot're living in, simply in my world, it means she likes yous."

He sighed and stared at the full moon exterior his window. "Well, why do you recollect it'd benefit both her and I if she knows I'thousand Spider-Man? Like, I'm not even Spider-Man, I'm just Spider-Boy!"

"Considering," Megumi ignored his unnecessary whining and put some thought into information technology, "if she'south gonna be your girlfriend, then you tin't hide it from her. Girlfriends tin exist really nosey and she's gonna be suspicious about what you're upward to. Imagine missing dates because yous accept someone to save. How are you gonna explain that?"

Yuji shrugged. "She's not my girlfriend."

"Theoretically speaking!"

"Merely it'south not gonna happen. She has high standards."

"You're so fucking dumb."

"Hey, I'one thousand smart and yous know that!"

Frankly, it was comical to meet Megumi stressing himself out by having even the simplest conversations with Itadori. "Whatever." He gave up eventually and took out a arrange from his backpack, after throwing the blue and cherry-red costume for him to catch. "In that location, I fixed your suit and added some high-tech performance that you might demand. I also added new web cartridges for you lot like taser webs, web bullets, and more options."

"Sick!" Yuji got up from bed and raved about his new Spider-Human suit. "Thanks, Fushiguro! I'g so lucky I take a genius equally my best friend. You'd do well as the next CEO of Zen'in Technologies."

Megumi ignored his praises and instead, criticized him about his called costume. "Why wear a spandex, though?"

"Doesn't my butt look good in information technology?" Itadori joked while stripping off and getting a foot inside the arrange. "Just kidding. It'southward easier to move when it'due south skin-tight."

Unfortunately, Yuji'south excitement to try out his enhanced suit was interrupted when there was a knock on his door. "Yuji? It's dinner time!" Shit. It was Aunt Mei. "Yuji?"

He kicked the suit nether his bed, now turning hypervigilant. "Yes, yeah. I'yard coming!"

The door flew open and how scandalous must information technology exist for Aunt Mei to run into a one-half naked Yuji standing in front of a blushing Megumi who was clearly embarrassed from the obvious misunderstanding that flashed before the woman'south eyes. "Oh, hey, Megumi. You're gonna join us for dinner."

He cleared his throat. "Uh, it's alright. I gotta go. My dad's, um…"

"Your dad," she replied with a visible gleam in her eyes, "is here and I've been chatting with him for half an 60 minutes now. Come on, go up, you lot ii."

Aunt Mei and Megumi's male parent? What a plot twist.

image

"Dorsum off, Spider-Man!"

Yuuji extended an arm to shoot his web on the surface behind the burglar, pulling the string back and so the brick could hitting the dorsum of the man's head. "Information technology'due south rude to steal, you know."

"Arghh!" The muscular man charged his gun and fired at Itadori while he swung around, slinging his web to sway on every street light like he was Tarzan, "I'thousand going to kill you!"

"Not a chance, sir!" Yuji retorted in his high-pitched voice, putting his feet together as he spun from a light pole and consequently kicked the man'southward breast at a perfect circumference. As soon as the culprit fell on his buttocks, Itadori rapidly used his web to snatch the gun from his paw, throwing the firearm away and shooting another thicker web to completely trap the man against the floor. Whew! "You're a bad guy."

"Aye? Why don't you take off that mask of yours and show united states of america who you are, you fucker?" The man tried to resist, flapping effectually like a fish with his upper body trapped from the spiderweb. He then tried to spit on Spider-Man's mask which prompted the hero to fire off a web on his mouth equally a consequence.

"Come on. My all-time friend made this adjust. Don't spit on information technology," he quipped, shooting more than spider web to go on his ankles in place. "That'll dissolve in an 60 minutes, pal." And as Yuji received an incoming bulletin on his conform's lenses, he decided that his duty was washed. "The TMPD will arrest yous before that, though. See 'ya!"

"Way to get, Spider-Man!"

"We love you!"

"Y'all're our hero!"

He wasn't going to prevarication. The attention was overwhelming, but at least people loved him. He was recognized for being the good guy and he was probably even more famous than Justin Bieber in his early on teens. You could hear chants and cheers and claps from strangers who watched him swing all over Shibuya, yelling his usual "woohoo!" equally he launched his spider web from building-to-building until he finally reached the window to his room. He quickly climbed in and removed every piece of Spider-Man paraphernalia from his body to remove evidence that he was, in fact, the famous masked man.

Why was he rushing, you wonder? It was considering of the bulletin he received from the lens of his suit.

From: Megumi

I don't think we can talk most that black symbiote we discovered in your adjust. She followed me to your apartment.

She? Who was Fushiguro even referring to?

He but got his respond when he opened the door, faking a yawn in his PJs as he saw Aunt Mei, Megumi, and… you. "Y/N, h-hey!" His optics widened in panic. "What brings you here?"

It was Aunt Mei who narrowed her eyes. "Hang on, how did you get there? Yous weren't in your room when I peeked in."

Yuji concealed his incoming barrage of excuses with a laugh. "Are yous sure you don't need to get your eyes checked, Aunt Mei? I've been sleeping all this time."

"But…" Your curious eyes were sleeky for some reason. "You were merely…"

Both Yuji and Megumi exchanged glances, communicating through eye movements as the former telepathically asked him why you were here and the latter saying he had no damn idea. The but reason they fifty-fifty managed to escape this awkward situation was considering of the breaking news that flashed on the TV screen.

JUST IN: Spider-Man catches infiltrator from breaking into jewelry store

Footage of the human he encountered earlier was shown on the news, being handcuffed by the TMPD officers while they played a side-by-side of the CCTV recording of Spider-Man boot some donkey. His ego was already up the ceiling knowing full well that people would exist gushing about his superhero persona, but it was your comments that boosted his ego fifty-fifty more. "He'south so amazing," you mumbled, eyes total of wonder, "I hope I can encounter him presently."

Megumi suppressed a chuckle. "Right."

"What's so funny?" y'all asked, "It's truthful. I dear Spider-Human."

Yuji cleared his pharynx. "I concord. Spider-Man's a really bang-up guy. Totally badass."

Some other BREAKING NEWS: Spider-Man has a clone and he's far from a hero!

What the fuck? Saving his tearing reactions for later on, Itadori stood in complete la-la-land as the TV showed depression quality photos of a guy in an all-black version of his Spider-Homo suit who was climbing Tokyo Skytree. Reports said that there were two casualties when the unidentified human being used its baggy blackness liquid in the form of webs, shooting people for fun knowing that they couldn't escape the highest part of the belfry. The villain referred to himself as 'Venom' and announced that Spider-Man was his greatest enemy. Who the hell?

"The symbiote!" Both Yuji and Megumi exclaimed in unison, leaving you and Aunt Mei to spring in surprise.

"The what?" asked Aunt Mei, only to exist met by the denial of her ain nephew.

"Information technology'southward zilch, Mei-san." Itadori so gave his raven-haired best friend a go signal before he turned to yous. "Y/N, you need a word with me? Can we just do it tomorrow?"

Your expression became desolate. You mustn't be aware, just Yuji could feel a prick in his centre whenever yous looked sorry and he felt bad for unintentionally hurting your feelings. Once more. "Oh, okay…" As you got up, you grabbed your handbag and gave Aunt Mei a courteous bow. "Distressing for coming unannounced—"

"No, Y/N wait." The pink-haired guy took your paw. Dammit. Information technology was you over anyone else. How could Yuji forget that? "Let'south talk in my room."

Listen, he wasn't thinking well-nigh dirty things past being alone in a room with you lot, only that this state of affairs felt surreal. Having the girl of his dreams inside his bedroom might sound like a fantasy, only it was real. Information technology was an actual reality that he only managed to obtain subsequently he and Megumi decided to postpone their chat for next time. For now, Spider-Man needed to live his normal life as Yuji Itadori, and that not-superhero version of him willingly gave all of his attention to you. He didn't need his spider-sense to read the unusual sadness in your countenance and that was how he started the conversation as you ii sat at the corner of his bed.

"Something bothering you?" he asked, squeezing the hand on your lap. "How can I help?"

When you lifted your eyes to see his gaze, they seemed full of fearfulness and worry. "Yuji, I simply wanna ask you to be conscientious, okay?" you began, abaft off shortly, "Sukuna, he… he's acting actually damn strange. I broke up with him and he got so aroused. In that location was manic in his eyes, information technology'due south similar darkness took over him and he said he's gonna get back you for taking me away and for humiliating him. I'chiliad distressing."

Yuji noticed the bruise on your lower lip, which was concealed past layers of make-up. "Did he hurt you?"

"Well, he was aroused."

"But still!" His knuckles felt cold. "He shouldn't be hurting a adult female!"

Y'all cupped Yuji's cheeks and pressed your foreheads together. "It's my fault. I dragged you lot into information technology considering I got and so happy when yous told me y'all liked me and I… Well, I've waited to hear information technology from you since we were kids. I liked you, also, Yuji. And I still exercise."

For the get-go time in a long while, Yuji Itadori felt at dwelling house.

Mayhap home wasn't whatsoever place nor whatsoever house. Possibly home was just you. Mayhap knowing that you liked him the same fashion he liked you was his oasis in this otherwise cluttered world.

Information technology was cathartic and gratifying to hear that you liked him later on all these years and he could only wish he had told you lot a lot sooner. If merely he had been more than courageous and less insecure, more honest and less shy, more hopeful and less pessimistic. Only he couldn't erase his past and information technology was too late to regret, so in social club to enjoy in this moment of joy, he crashed his lips onto yours and submitted to the euphoria of kissing the daughter he loved the virtually. Information technology was sweetness—the taste, the feeling, the corporeality of happiness he had in his heart. He let the kiss intoxicate his mind so it could sink into him that this wasn't but his imagination. You were equally real as you felt in his arms when he pulled away and embraced y'all. "I'm going to protect you," he made a promise, "Don't worry about Sukuna or anyone else. I'll be hither for you and I'll make sure nothing will bring us apart."

Y'all leaned in to peck his lips again. "I'm glad I accept you, Yuji."

How did it feel like to be in a relationship?

Friendly reminder to all readers that Yuji should exist the last person to enquire, unless people would be willing to read a 500-folio novel of how blissful he had been for the past two weeks since he began dating you. Even Megumi himself got sick and tired of information technology, challenge that he was living the Yuji life way too much and the Spider-Man life way too less.

Okay, that was unfair. "I never wanted to become everyone's hero!"

Fushiguro sat across from him in an empty school science lab, lips forming a downward slope as he focused on fixing his best friend's web-shooter. "I get that you're happy to have a girlfriend, but be realistic sometimes. People are counting on you. You know that the Venom is out there trying to assassinate civilians only to spite you while y'all're out here being lovey-dovey with a girl."

"She's not just a daughter, Fushiguro." Information technology was rare for Yuji to be this rigid and serious around him, but he was feeling too pressured and he wasn't liking it at all. "I'thou just a kid and I wanna alive a normal life without having to fight villains every at present then. I wanna be merely me."

"Merely you're not y'all anymore!" Megumi placed the web-shooter downward and drew in a deep breath. "I'm not friends with you because you're Spider-Homo. I chose to be your friend because you ever carried the best intentions towards other people. When I asked you why you wanted to use your abilities to protect the citizens, yous told me that your grandfather's last words were to help those who are in need. Did you suddenly forget that?"

He looked down and resorted to momentary silence. Silence that lasted until he was able to form his own thoughts near it. "It's merely that… I'm finally with the girl I dearest and I'1000 scared that beingness Spider-Man will take all of that away from me."

"Y'all heard how she adores Spider-Man," the guy pointed out, "It'due south not like she's gonna detest you if she found out that you're him. Be rational. Would yous rather but sit and sentinel how people are dying because of yous? How practice y'all live without guilt?"

"Don't put information technology that style!" Man. Yuji buried his face in his hands. "I bear that guilt every night and I always think of how much I wanna catch Venom, only…"

Megumi shook his head, displeased. "Do you realize that Y/N will still be in danger ane fashion or another considering the Venom could target her at any given time?" He loaded the specialized spider web cartridges and pushed information technology to Itadori. "If y'all wanna keep her safe, you have to kill the guy."

"I don't kill people," he mumbled in protest.

"It's not a person," was Fushiguro's counter, "It'due south a dangerous existence that'due south murdering people for fun. There are two types of people, Itadori. One who stops a crime, and i who simply watches it."

In other words, Yuji should know better than this. Without Megumi'due south assist, he never would have been the Spider-Man who could shoot all these astonishing webs while wearing this amazing arrange. Granted, he still had the superhuman power, merely his resources wouldn't have been as accessible if not for his supportive sidekick. Abandoning the Spider-Human role would mean that he was disregarding his friend'south efforts. It would mean that he was willing to allow innocent people die considering of him. It would hateful that he was never truly honoring his grandfather'southward last dying wish. Keeping all this in mind, Itadori exhaled a heavy sigh and put on his wrist-worn device. "Y'all said I got flame webbing and sonic disruptors?"

A satisfied smiling popped up on his all-time friend'southward face. "Yes, yous can use them for the symbiote. Regular webs won't piece of work."

"Alright." Locked and loaded, Yuji bumped Megumi's fist. "I'm gonna tell her tonight."

When he said 'tonight', he didn't exactly say how. Otherwise, he would have specified his statement, right? What he really meant was that he would tell you through FaceTime afterward he had his rehearsed speech prepared and he could easily hang up in social club to avoid the embarrassment of seeing your negative reaction. It was easy. It should exist easy as long as he followed the script.

And the get-go line went exactly like this, "I need to tell yous something of import."

You smiled through the telephone screen. "Uh-oh, is it bad?"

"Information technology depends." He chuckled uneasily. "Tin can I just go out hints and you'll approximate what I am?"

Lame. The uncomplicated three words were 'I am Spider-Homo', but he still chose to be a coward by playing a game. "Hmm. That makes me a lot more curious. Go on, then."

He gulped and raised the phone parallel to the ceiling. "Okay, and then… uh, I like climbing and itch. I'1000 a fast runner, too."

"Mhm, so yous're able-bodied is what you mean."

Yuji's heart stumbled on its ain rhythm. Perhaps he had to say something more specific. "My easily, when they do the chore, I release this sheer, white fluid. well, I take to brew my own fluid and it becomes tight and sticky when I shoot information technology out of my—"

"Yuji." You suppressed a smile. "Are yous trying to cybersex with me?"

His ears suddenly felt hot and only now did he realize that his words were completely taken out of context. He was already blushing then hard that he had to cover his confront with one hand. "It's not what y'all're thinking," he swore to God, "Can I just… are you alone in your room right now?"

Holy moo-cow. That sounded weird, also.

"Yeah, I am." Your voice faded at the terminate of the sentence.

Well, since he already fucked upwards, information technology was now or never. "How would you feel if Spider-Man knocked on your window at this hour?"

Your answer sent more Cupid-spawned arrows to Itadori's heart. "I'd tell him he's amazing, but I have a boyfriend so he tin can't come up in."

How could he deserve someone like you lot? You were all he would ever want on a girl. "Stay there. I'll be dorsum."

image

He told you lot to stay, but where did he go exactly? You were guessing he went to take a bathroom break, but information technology had been fifteen minutes and there was no sign of a Yuji Itadori on your laptop'southward screen. It was either he had fallen asleep or he was taking a really huge dump, and whichever information technology was, y'all decided to reach for your phone and give him a phone call.

Merely every bit the phone rang on your left ear, a sudden knock on the window filled your right. You experienced a whiplash of fearfulness, surprise, and confusion all in one infinitesimal as yous turned effectually to see an upside down Spider-Human dangling on his web outside of your window. Impossible. You rushed towards him, lightly chuckling as the masked man waved at you lot until yous opened the window and immune for the cold breeze to blow your pilus back.

"Hey, beautiful. I heard I'm non immune to come up in because you lot have a swain," the young vigilante spoke in a playful tone and it didn't take you long enough to put ii and two together.

That phonation. That personality. The words he spoke about you lot earlier. "Yuji?" His name escaped your lips equally information technology finally made sense.

Although he had a mask on, you could sense that he was smiling. "You caught me."

Yous couldn't believe it. No other words came out of your mouth as you were rendered speechless with the realization that you were dating Spider-Man. He was the subject of every girl's affection right now, and y'all were the lucky one who had the privilege of dating such a wonderful guy. But whether he was Yuji or Spider-Man, nothing really changed. Your feelings for him went deep. "Yous didn't have to hide it. I wouldn't be telling anyone, I hope yous."

"Are yous sure y'all're fine with it?" he asked while allowing yous to pare the mask from his mentum and upwardly to the middle of his nose span.

"Why wouldn't I exist?" You gave him a soft osculation, moving in perfect sync with his lips. The way he enveloped his rima oris effectually yours made your eye tingle within, allowing fire to ignite in your veins from the heated make out session that you 2 simply shared. The buss was intense and you were already catching your breath when you pulled abroad to see how your fellow hauled himself with his spider web, climbing inside your window only to press you against the wall and kiss you lot much deeper than the last. "Yuji."

He stared into your eyes. "Hm?"

Y'all wrapped an arm effectually his neck. "Tin can you swing me around the city?"

Perks of dating Spider-Human being: you get a gratis ticket to the exhilarating Spider-Homo swing ride.

Off-white warning to people who have acrophobia considering this ride certainly wasn't for them. You were a hundred feet off the ground, screaming at the top of your lungs as you lot held onto your swain tight—artillery and legs wrapped around his frame when he fired his web from one skyscraper to some other. He towed y'all effectually the city just as y'all requested, joining your shrieks of excitement every bit the adrenaline blitz intensified the twist in your gut. Y'all decided to close your eyes when he got too loftier, blinded by the flashing lights of colorful Shibuya and its plethora of LEDs, and simply basked yourself with the common cold air that kissed your face. "I can't believe this!" your vocalisation ripped through the open air.

"Me neither!" Yuji yelled as the audio of your voices scattered from the open space. People from below were auspicious for Spider-Homo as he turned the city into his playground.

The swinging was shortly replaced past another ride also known as the 'spider crawl' because the hero latched onto Tokyo Skytree'south wall, climbing the surface and stimulating your adrenaline more than than he already had. There, at the highest part of the tower, he held your waist and let you stand on a metal railing. "This is and so crazy."

Itadori took off his mask and shot you a loving smiling. "We can do this over again anytime you lot want."

Perks of dating Yuji Itadori: he was Yuji Itadori.

"I love yous," he was the first ane to say it.

And you didn't hesitate returning the same words. "I love you."

Love meant many things.

If you type in a quick Google search, the event would tell y'all that love 'encompasses a range of stiff and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal amore, to the simplest pleasure.'

For Yuji, love was caring for someone and then securely. Love was finding happiness in that person. Beloved was giving them their own happiness. Dearest was beingness devoted and sincere. Love was to cede. Love was to protect someone close to you. Love was doing your utmost best to keep them safety.

Dear was y'all.

But how could that honey last when he couldn't fifty-fifty protect you? When, because he was playing his duty as Spider-Homo, he jeopardized your supposedly peaceful life by dragging you lot to the dangers of his? Just how unbelievably stupid was he to recollect that his perfect relationship could last long without any threat?

He may have managed to get caput-to-head with Venom, but he never expected that it would be at the cost of your safety. "Let her get!"

"Catch her if you tin can." The horrendous blackness creature hissed at him with his slavering tongue, showing his set of precipitous, rotten teeth while property you hostage on top of a crane.

"I said let her go!" Yuji shot his web on your stomach, pulling you back before Venom cut it with his razor teeth. "Aghh, don't affect her!"

Your scream was horrifying when the blackness symbiote that locked you at the nail tip loosened his grip a trivial, leaving you to hang like a doll using only one arm to support your body. "Yuji! Aid!"

Venom spoke in a familiar vocalization, finally unveiling his face when the symbiote allowed an opening. "Remember me?"

Sukuna. He should've known!

"H-How?" You yelped in terror when the crane moved around. "Assistance!"

This was Yuji's fight and you didn't need to exist a office of it. He could never forgive himself if something happened to y'all, and so his chief plan was to continue Sukuna separated from you and in one case he managed to do it, he would be launching his webbing flames and sonic disruptors which were the best combination to eliminate the conflicting symbiote off its host. He pitied Sukuna for having gone through such a vicious transition, simply it didn't really seem that he was resisting information technology. The reason why his nemesis was then powerful was because the symbiote bonded with him and there was only ane desire in his heed: to impale Yuji Itadori.

"Sukuna, we can talk about this!" Yuji attempted to deal, and yet was declined. "Sukuna, please! Permit Y/N go! This isn't you. Don't permit the brute take over your listen!"

Attacks from the black tinted spider twin came in the form of punches equally the two of them grappled at the base of the boom, climbing upwards and shooting each other with webs and symbiotes respectively. He took this chance to commencement using his webbing flames and he did information technology by sending a fusillade of webs that burned into flames when they hit Sukuna's Venom skin. The projectiles were launched repeatedly along with the sonic disruptors, and the villain'south distraction became the perfect opportunity for Yuji to scoop yous out of the boom.

First plan was to permit you escape, the 2d was to destroy the evil symbiote.

After swinging across the street by propelling from the high walls, Spider-Man plant a night alley where could finally put you dorsum on your feet.

"Y/Northward… You're putting yourself in danger for only being with me." It pained him to say all this, only he had to. It was for your sake. For your family. For the people that could dearest you and so much more than than what he could only offer. Tonight was a lesson that he was never going to be the guy that would continue you safe. He was a masked menace who simply exposed y'all to danger and you deserved better than this. "I'yard lamentable, Y/N. I'g lamentable I got you involved. I'm lamentable I put your life at take a chance. I'm sorry I—"

Despite existence held convict at a crane a few minutes agone, at that place was no fearfulness in your eyes when you pulled him for a passionate kiss, locking your lips around his just to silence his doubts. And by the time y'all pulled away, he didn't await that his words hurt you similar a grand knives. "Don't yous ever say sorry for wanting to be with me," yous were tearful as you said it, "I love you and that'south all that matters."

"But await at us," he said, unmasking his face, "Await at what I put yous through. I don't desire this life. I just wanna be with you. I wanna be a normal teenage guy, not Spider-Man or anyone else. I just wanna be Yuji Itadori."

You pressed your brow against his. "With great ability comes great responsibility," y'all uttered the words with the intention to articulate the chaos in his mind, "Your abilities are gifts. Y'all were fated to have them, and now y'all accept people looking at you with hope. I know you lot didn't enquire to become Spider-Human, but—"

"There you are!"

Yuji's confront became ashen. He watched with numb horror how a one-half burnt Sukuna used his spider web to send you flying confronting a wall. Hit your head wasn't the well-nigh devastating part. It was the slice of metal that pierced through your body, thus sending blood to gush out of your mouth. "NO! Y/N!"

He was in denial, and in hurting, and in a fit of rage. Itadori used the strongest feeling to dominate him and attacked Sukuna with continuous usage of webbing flames and sonic disruption. Yuji screamed with anger as the rapid shooting left his foe engulfed in huge flames, sending him to his fatal end.

"Y/N!" His heart broke in one-half, his eyes flooded with tears. This tin't be. This is a nightmare. "No, Y/Due north. You're okay. Y-Y'all're okay."

Truthfully, y'all weren't. The metal was deep inside your gut, keeping you adrift ten feet above the ground. You lot struggled with words every bit you lot raised a weak arm to bear on him, and yet y'all couldn't. Your only option was to grinning through the agonizing pain. "D-Don't regret."

"No, no. You're gonna be fine," he brushed the hair out of your face, "We're gonna take this matter out of you and you lot're gonna be fine. Please, please stay with me."

The awful clutch on his chest had his heart in knots. Time slowed as the gravity of the situation weighed it down, leaving just you lot and him in a dark alley with the rest of the world acting as a background. He touched your cheek and saw that your eyes were lachrymose from the buildup of tears, but at that place wasn't annihilation much he could do but to have reality.

The reality was that Spider-Man just lost the only girl he would ever honey.

"No," he sobbed, pressing his forehead on yours, "No, Y/N. I-I'thou sorry. Don't go, delight."

Equally your eyes stayed open—still, silent, unmoving—he knew that y'all were no longer a body with a soul.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Three months.

They said it was long enough to grieve someone's death and Yuji watched how people eventually moved on with their lives subsequently your death as if he was the only i who institute no purpose in this cruel earth. Pain wasn't fifty-fifty enough to describe how he was feeling. It was so much more than a unproblematic heartache, like his soul was burned along the flames that engulfed Sukuna and the symbiote that clung to his body. There were moments where he was tempted to pull a Romeo and Juliet considering it seemed similar it was his but hope from escaping the abiding pull that trapped him in an completeness of misery. But time and time again, he was reminded of your last words of how having great ability equaled having neat responsibility, and so he tried to get improve in honour of you lot.

Unfortunately, beingness Spider-Man was non in his repertoire anymore.

He stopped wearing the infamous reddish and blueish adapt after you died, stopped beingness the hero that the metropolis needed, and stopped forcing himself to be the savior that couldn't even save his own girlfriend. He tried to live a normal, humble life as Yuji Itadori and abased his other life every bit the webslinger, but sometimes in that location were moments where he felt immensely pressured to return.

BREAKING NEWS: Spider-Man, we need you!

"Folks, the crime rate in Tokyo had a significant increase ever since our masked hero seemed to take disappeared. Today, we bring you reports of ii armed men who bankrupt into a lady's condominium and stole a billion yen worth of personal property—"

"Yuji?" Aunt Mei called from the living room. "Where are you going, darling?"

It wasn't what yous were thinking. No, he wasn't going to be Spider-Human being today.

"Just somewhere," he answered, slinging his back on one shoulder, "I'll see you afterwards."

The management of his adventure today was to the flat of the about famous man in the world of sorcery. Megumi was the one who introduced Yuji to the noesis about this guy, telling him all of his capabilities and powers that any normal person would have thought was completely impossible. He would take thought so, too. Just surely, being bitten by a radioactive spider and having superhuman abilities gave Itadori a off-white leverage into believing that the sorcerer was indeed legitimate.

And that was why he was here now, standing in front of Satoru Gojou who led him inside his spacious duplex penthouse.

"Spidey," the white-haired human being greeted him in a comical tone, "How can I assist?"

Yuji held his jiff and stared at the purple bluish eyes that held power to the universe'due south domain and all its infinite possibilities.

"Please plow back fourth dimension and make anybody who knows Yuji Itadori forget him, including my girlfriend."
